Alex, Rani, Martin, and Casey take turns swinging from a rope that hangs off a tree by the river. When it’s Alex’s turn, Martin and Casey taunt him, knowing he can’t swim very well. Alex swings off the rope, and as he swims back to shore, he hears a faint voice in the water but shrugs it off. Moments later, the group hears thunder and decides to pack up and leave. As they reach the other side of the river, Alex, unnoticed by the others, gets sucked under.Rani is the first to notice Alex is missing. At first, the group thinks he’s playing a joke, but then assume he went ahead because he was embarrassed by their teasing. As they walk along the riverbank, they come across a pile of fully inflated tubes. Nearby, Rani spots Alex’s hat floating downstream. She wades in to grab it, but as she turns to leave, she feels herself being sucked down.Martin lunges toward the bank and grabs her arm. Casey rushes in, frantically grabbing Rani’s other arm and tugging to free her. After a desperate struggle, Rani is suddenly yanked down and disappears beneath the water.Casey panics. Martin looks distraught but forces himself to think. He tells Casey he’s going to run back to the car for help and insists, despite her protests, that she must stay by the bank in case Rani resurfaces.Martin takes off running. He sprints so hard he trips, slamming his head against the pavement. Dazed, he staggers back to his feet and pushes forward. Just as he reaches the car and stretches for the door handle, the world shifts, and instead of the car, his hand plunges into the river.Back at the riverbank, Casey paces nervously. She begins to hear whispers. They grow louder and louder, pressing in on her until she stumbles back into the woods, then breaks into a run. The voices follow her until she bursts onto a barren road. In the distance, headlights approach.Casey waves frantically at the car, yelling for it to stop. Suddenly, a whisper shouts, “Look down!” She glances at her feet and sees a puddle. The car stops. The driver gets out, but there’s no one there. With a shrug, he climbs back in and drives away, his tires splashing through the puddle.
